Beating the Flu Virus

We are currently being affected by the Fall strain of Swine Flu.  The virus is in the system and we are all trying to beat the flu virus.  I am washing my hands regularly and taking a naturopathic remedy called Thymuline to ward off the virus.  At Heights, we are cleaning surfaces regularly to prevent any flu virus germs from being passed onto someone else.  Hopefully we are all doing our best to ward off the H1N1 virus.

How are you beating the H1N1 Swine Flu virus?

If you would like any more information on the flu virus, read the following website:

http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/alert-alerte/h1n1/index-eng.php

Write your own paragraph about the H1N1 virus and what you are doing to prevent getting the flu this season.

The Ultimate Computer

If you won the computer of your choice, which one would you get? Include 3 specific features (other than ones covered so far) that you feel would be beneficial to you. Think about quality on the screen.

I would pick the HP Pavilion DV3-1075ca Notebook PC because it has an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics processor for intense graphics on the screen, a Super Multi 8x DVD Double Layer burner and a brilliant 13.3-inch WXGA high-definition widescreen. I feel that all of these features would perform very well with some of my high intensity games and movies.

First Week

On Wednesday, we took a tour of the equipment in C107. We discussed how the computer is like the brain, how it thinks and stores information in its memory.  Think about that information when you answer this question on your own blog.

To make your blog organized and make answering the question easier, copy the question (below in red) to your blog and answer it below the question.

Good luck!

If you were going to buy a new, fast computer, what 3 things would be most important for speed? (We talked about 2 things specifically, this week) Explain why you would pick each of the 3 things.

May 24 Weekend

In my time, I have come to know the May 24 Weekend for it's fireworks, typically because my family and my wife's family have always gone out to view the fireworks display. Ranging from a grandeur fireworks in Toronto's Ontario Place to the smaller fireworks in our beautiful community of Guelph.

In your own words, what does Victoria Day mean to you?

Similarly, or not so similarly, what does May 24 Weekend mean to you?

HAPPINESS...what does this word mean to you?

This morning I woke up at 5:30 and found that I couldn't sleep, so I got up and watched the TV. I only get 5 channels on a good day, and I chose to watch TVO (TV Ontario). They were talking about HAPPINESS and what it means to different people. Also how different it is from one person to another. It turns out that it is the result of many different things inside you and around you.

What does this word mean to you and how do you think it is affected by how you feel and what is going on around you?

Check out the TVO website if you would like to get more information on this subject and read about a computer gamer who is developing cool global games on the Internet - Jane McGonigal - see Janes full biography to see what it takes to become a computer game developer.

Wacky Uses - Alka Seltzer

Today I heard an interesting bit of info on the radio about "Alka Seltzer".

What is Alka Seltzer?

  • an antacid and pain relief medicine
  • FAST RELIEF
  • Good remedy for heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach with headache, body aches and pains

The point on the radio was, what else can you do with a couple of Alka Seltzers?

According to Joey Green, you can also use Alka Seltzer tablets to clean a toilet, clean a vase, polish jewelry, unclog a drain and soothe insect bites...wow, and it's also good for your stomach!

Question of the day: Do you know of anything else that is so multipurpose (think duct tape)?

** Checkout "Wacky Uses" if you can't think of one ;-)

See Joey Green's site - Wackyuses.com

And you've got to see his video too, it's hilarious!
